Zoltán Bács, Rector of the University of Debrecen, and Endre Harsányi, Vice Rector for Sectoral Development, held talks with senior officials of the State of Nebraska, including Secretary of State Robert Barnett Evnen, Deputy Secretary of State Cindi Allen, and the State Secretary for Food Economy, Distribution and Education of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Economy in Hungary, László Búza. The focus of the agenda of their meeting was on further expanding our university's international network of relations and exploring new educational, research and innovation collaboration opportunities in the United States.

Endre Harsányi aims to enhance the innovation activities at the University of Debrecen through building on the multidisciplinary knowledge base of our institution and linking the healthcare industry, agriculture, the automotive industry, robotics, artificial intelligence and other strategic areas. The vice rector responsible for sectoral development reckons that the overall objective is to establish an integrated development system that facilitates closer cooperation among the various faculties, research centers and industrial partners of the university, while increasing the practical application possibilities of research findings and enhancing our international competitiveness at the same time.
The cooperation between the University of Debrecen and the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra is on the way to expand by involving new academic fields of study. Apart from their collaboration in agricultural and food sciences, the two institutions are now building closer connections in the fields of engineering and economics, too. The latest agreement between the two sides about, among other things, faculty and student exchanges, joint conferences and research projects was signed on Thursday, July 9.
Nicolas Rubio, the agricultural counselor of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), gave a talk on the processes of the global agricultural market, the development of economic relations between the European Union and the United States, and the most important trends in EU-US agricultural trade at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen. His visit offered yet another opportunity to strengthen educational, research and innovation relations between the University of Debrecen and its partners in the United States.
